My Personal Journey of Resilience and GRIT
By Arvind Kumar

There was a time in our lives when the rug was pulled out from under us.
For me this happened 2 years ago.

I was working in a stable, well-paying job, one that I believed would carry me through many more years. But life had other plans. They always do! One day, unexpectedly, I was handed my retrenchment letter. The security I had built my family’s future on seemed to crumble in an instant.

The Initial days were a whirlwind of emotions—shock, dissapointment, and an overwhelming sense of uncertainty. I had a family to support, bills to pay. But amidst the chaos, something inside me stirred—a resolve that this would not be the end of my story.

I decided to take a leap of faith. With no safety net, I ventured into the path of entrepreneurship with my business partner Dinesh Karna. It was uncharted territory, and the odds felt stacked against me. I didn’t have the luxury of time to second-guess my decisions. I had to learn to adapt quickly, think creatively, and find opportunities where none seemed to exist.

In the early days of our entrepreneurship, the challenges were relentless. Many rejections and there were moments when doubt crept in. But each time I fell, I reminded myself why I started—my commitments and my family. Their belief in me became my fuel. I tapped into my resilience and grit, two qualities I never fully appreciated until I was forced to confront my deepest uncertainties in my life.

I learned to celebrate small wins, to pivot when necessary, and to lean on my connections and supporter in the network I had built over two decades. Thanks God for that!

Slowly but surely, things began to take shape. Clients started to trust me, partnerships began to blossom, and our business AspireUP Consultancy grew.

So folks, looking back, the experience of losing my job turned out to be one of the most defining moments of my life. It forced me out of my comfort zone and into a place of growth and self-discovery.

It taught me that resilience is not just about bouncing back; it’s about forging ahead with purpose. And grit? It’s about showing up every day, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Today, as I reflect on that journey, I’m reminded of the strength we all carry within us. Challenging times are inevitable, but they also hold the power to shape us into stronger, wiser, and more determined versions of ourselves.

So, here’s a salient question for you to reflect on:
What was the most defining moments of your life and how did you respond to it?
Till the next article!
