How many of you have read or heard the real-life story of Colonel Harland Sanders?
Most of us who know his story would find him inspiring!
Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, was disappointed umpteen times in his life and still made his dream come true late in his life. He is a seventh grade dropout who tried many ventures in life but tasted bitter every time.
He faked his age to join the American army at the age of 16. A year later, after receiving an honorable discharge, he was hired as a laborer by the railway. Yet he lost his job because of a fight with a coworker. He studied law while working for the railway, but his legal career was destroyed when he got into another fight. Sanders was forced to return to living with his mother and find work as a life insurance salesman. And guess what? He was let go for disobedience. Nonetheless, this man refused to give up.
He established a ferry boat business in 1920. Later, when he attempted to capitalize on his ferry boat business to launch a lamp manufacturing business, he discovered that another company was already selling a superior model of his lamp.
Eventually, he started selling chicken at the age of 40, but his dream of a restaurant was turned down many times due to conflicts and wars. Later he attempted to franchise his restaurant. His recipe got rejected 1,009 times before the final approval. And soon the secret recipe, “Kentucky Fried Chicken” became a huge hit worldwide.
KFC was expanded globally and the company was sold for 2 million dollars and his face is celebrated on the KFC logos till this very day.
So what can we learn from his story?
Have you stopped your attempts to a venture just because you were rejected or failed a few times?
Can you even accept a failure 1009 times?
This story can be an inspiration for us to try hard and believe in ourselves until we achieve success despite how many times we have failed.
