The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Have you heard this saying?

How does this translate to the workplace?

Often, we have disagreements or feel that certain people in the organization that we work with, are our “enemy”. We can’t get along; we disagree in many ways and in how we communicate with each other.

As such we choose not to participate or engage with that person or people as much as possible. As a result, there is a further disconnect and the damaging-ripple effect of that choice, goes beyond the few people that we feel are involved.

It has a damaging knock-on effect throughout the company in more ways than we could possibly imagine.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend”

We know that competition is incredibly high, most companies are fighting to hold on to market share and drive business successfully.

For organizations to thrive, they need first to have aligned teams across the entire organization. So, whenever you have a disagreement in the workplace, remember who the enemy truly is. The enemy is the ever-shifting market place, the enemy is the competition, the enemy is choosing to do nothing when you know your action can bring positive change.

That’s the true enemy of team success. Cohesive teams are the foundation to a successful thriving and naturally innovative company.

There are no enemy’s within teams, and even if you feel that sometimes, remember this….The enemy of my enemy is my friend!
